2/24/2006 miss avaso, i just came back from a trip to Boulder, CO...visited my sis and got to meet my niece for the first time! she was born on Jan 28th. she's sooo cute and i think looks just like her daddy! her name apparently means 'bird' - which is sooo appropriate bc she constantly looks up at you like a baby bird in a nest waiting for someone to drop food into her open mouth...it's so funny. here's a photo...had to share! 2/23/2006 american idol obsession!ok, so American Idol has me officially obsessed...once again!
I'm going out on a limb and choosing my top 6 (3 girls and 3 guys). I've decided that if these 6 don't make it to the end, then America is dumber than i already believe. So here's the list, including my nicknames:
top 3 dudes
Ace Young "hoooootie"...i really don't think they could make a hotter guy that dresses more perfect for this show...i will admit, drool has occurred.
Chris Daughty "rocker"....absolutely love his voice...could listen to him sing to me 24 hrs/day
Taylor Hicks "old man"...he's such a cool dude and sooo quirky...luv watching him and listening to him...plus, he plays the harmonica, so that's extra bonus points
top 3 chicks
Katharine McPhee "normal chick" ...she's just real with a fun personality and can definitely sing.
Lisa Tucker "young'n"...she's like 16 yrs old and sings like she's been doing it for 30 yrs...i definitely enjoy watching her.
Paris Bennett "baby doll"...this one is 17, but her speaking voice is that of a 5 yr old...though, when she opens her mouth - bam!
person i hate most and needs to be immediately removed (hopefully tonight): Brenna Gethers. i can't with this one...if i made a list of all the reasons she's ridiculous, it'd be pages, upon pages. she sucks and is one of the most annoying people evah...remove her immediately!
overall - i think i want one of the guys to win, i just haven't decided which one yet...stay tuned. 2/5/2006 superbowl adsfirst, let me start by saying - can a superbowl get any more boring that the one this year? thankfully, there were ads to watch. so, speaking of the ads...here's my take:
i think this year's ads were weak. i did laugh a few times, but not hard. i expect serious humor when it comes to superbowl ads. the BK ad - that one was saved in the end when the whopperette-veggies were thrown onto the bun. the Bud Light ads - magical frig and the bear and the hiding of beers in the office - pretty funny. one thing i did notice - a few too many ads utilized the "surprise-dive-tackle' approach - seems overdone (2 Bud Light ads, the Air Tran ad and probably others that i'm forgetting). that tactic was funnier in the Terry Tate - office linebacker days. another ad that entertained me was the Fed Ex one - the cave man kicking the lizard-dinosaur - i like it when things get kicked - overall that ad was probably my favorite. oh, and lastly, i thought that Sprint did a pretty good job - both with the 'crime deterrent' and the 'couch fire' ad.
probably more importantly this year - the bad ads. Diet Pepsi with the freak'n "brown and bubbly" - are you kidding me? oh, and there was one ad with Fabio in it - i cringed in horror - no idea of the product - just horror that some marketing person thought spending a gabillion dollars on a superbowl ad that included Fabio was a good idea. that person should be fired immediately. then there's Shaq - he also makes me wanna vomit. oh, and lastly, i do like ads that involve monkeys and jackasses - but until careerbuilder gets me a job - i'm saying those were unoriginal.
