    xmas card refusal

ok - xmas cards.  where to begin with these things.  each year i try to wrap my brain around the concept and just can't.

i suppose i should look at the positive and realize that people are making an effort to send their kind wishes my way...but, that would be the positive spin that i'm normally uninterested in hearing.  so, i'll move on to what i believe is the reality...

first are the people that sit down and write these year-long letters of what they've done...seriously...do these people keep xmas card journals?...who the hell remembers the shit they did 12 months ago?  I can barely remember last night.  next in line are the cards with well wishes and a signature.  these seem like such a waste of postage and it's so obvious that people rush through signing a ga-billion cards from a box with "Happy Holidays...Love, ..."  i dunno, just seems so forced.  then finally, the latest trend - the photo of the kids.  what is the true purpose of these? - to show off how cute your kids can look in holiday clothing?...to say my kids are cuter than yours?...or is it as pure as 'see how much they've grown since last year'....blah, it's all about the show-boating.  everyone thinks they have the cutest kids...unfortunately everyone's kids can't be the cutest and some kids - they just be ugly no matter what red outfit you make them wear.  plus, with modern technology, you can easily post and share your kid's photos online at like Snapfish or a blog for all to see anyway...no need to send xmas cards.  less postage, less intrusion, less guilt, less stress.

plus, once you've decided to send xmas cards, the politics begin.  do you send it to everyone you know?  what if you stop being in contact with someone - are they off the list next year?  or what if you don't get a card from them - do you write it down in your crazy xmas-card-journal so you remember who to cut next year?  too much drama for me, so i shall stand strong and continue the precedent of no bulk xmas card mailings.

stop standing by the mail box waiting with anticipation...oh, and merry xmas.  :)

    mmmmm....tv

ok - i'm obsessed with the tv show "The Office".  there is no other show that makes my jaw drop while also laughing so hard that i have to pause the show.  I think I also feel a connection to the show because it's based in Scranton, PA...which is ridiculously similar to and not to far from where i grew up.  anyway, this week's episode was by-far the funniest one of the season...so funny, i was unable to delete it from my DVR because i want to watch it again.

while on the topic of my favorite shows...here's my official list right now...
    1) The Office - everything about this show is completely inappropriate...hence, the story of my life...how could i not love it?
    2) Scrubs - this is a close 2nd to The Office, but because it's 'on a break' right now, The Office wins.
    3) LOST - i'm definitely sucked into this show...they could pretty much make up anything right now and i'd eat it up...especially if Hurley is involved.
    4) Survivor - i know, i know...but, Stephanie is on this season (brought back from a previous season) and i feel that she is one of two things for me
        (a) my idol and female role model
        (b) the reason i would potentially switch teams
    5) The OC - mostly because of Seth - he's my TV boyfriend.

    make sure you're watching fools!
